We are looking for legal advisors with strong expertise in IHL or related fields for positions in Geneva or in this field. The Legal Department is looking for a Legal Advisor to work within the project team under the supervision of the Head of Unit. This will involve conducting research and writing texts for new comments. He/she initiates, formulates and implements strategies to address identified problems and delegated objectives/priorities in the legal field, in particular in the context of ICRC`s activities related to the protection of civilians. Education and work experience: The ICRC`s work is based on the Geneva Conventions of 1949, their Additional Protocols, its statutes, those of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the resolutions of the International Conferences of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. The ICRC is an independent and neutral organization that provides humanitarian protection and assistance to victims of war and armed violence. It responds to emergencies and promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its transposition into national law.
