She co-founded a forensic partnership with the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Women`s Clinic to educate low-income pregnant patients about workplace rights. Katie leads the implementation of our forensic partnership model in Contra Costa County. It provides free legal services, including representation and technical assistance, on the rights of survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, workers struggling with family and medical crises, as well as pregnant workers and new parents. Katie is also committed to expanding workers` rights, providing health care providers, survivors and lawyers with training on vacation, housing and payroll rights. He helped launch and manage our Chinese-language phone line and conducts weekly public relations on labor law through Chinese-language radios and newspapers. Sharon is an expert on family leave and sick leave policy and has helped develop several landmark laws to improve California`s labor and family policies, including expanding paid family leave to cover care for siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, and in-laws. and increasing the amount of benefits, in particular for low-wage workers; Expand job-protected leave to millions more Californians; a law that continues to provide for health insurance benefits during pregnancy leave; and a law that guarantees employment-protected free time to attend or enroll children in school or daycare, or to respond to an emergency child care emergency.
