A unique experiment will be taking place in the Dutch city of Utrecht after the summer. In cooperation with Utrecht University, the municipality will test the concept of the basic income. Every participant in the experiment will receive a monthly modest income from the state, without the obligation to do anything in return.This system would significantly decrease the amount of regulation. However, the experiment will have to show whether it won’t lead to people becoming demotivated to work.
