CPD Interactive is the Faculty of Law`s online professional development (CPD) platform. It complements the college`s extensive catalog of online courses, classroom courses, webinars and online skills development programs. CPD Interactive was created to provide lawyers with a flexible and interactive way to meet their mandatory requirements in each of the four areas: Lawyers and lawyers in Western Australia must obtain their CPD credits from an approved professional development provider for the WA legal profession in order to meet the mandatory state legal education requirements. In 2021, the Western Australian Council of Legal Practice launched a new online CPD Management System (CPDMS) to measure the effectiveness of the CPD system. WA lawyers can only earn legal CPD points if they complete approved CPD activities. The Legal Practice Board is the regulator of continuing professional development (CPD) in Western Australia and your first point of contact for questions relating to CPD requirements. Each class is designed to last one to two hours and is engaging, interactive and very easy to use. It is simply a matter of choice and entry. The progress of your course is recorded by the CPD interactive learning management system and you can return to any course you started but not yet completed. On April 1, 2015, amendments to the 2009 Law Society By-law came into force. The most significant changes were the addition of a new “Practice Management” competency area and the removal of the requirement for VA lawyers to complete a different number of points in each area of expertise, depending on the number of years of experience after admission.
